"Land Blessing" is an ode to nature, to the countryman and their ancestral ways of life. The story begins with a solitary man wandering in an unspecified location on the northern border of Norway and Sweden, seeking (or perhaps fleeing) his paradise, his place in life. He is a settler surrounded by untouched and harsh lands, barely frequented by anyone other than the Sami people. Isak, as this colossus is called, as the author sometimes refers to him, will build a modest cabin and settle in that territory. He will tame it, prepare the fields for cultivation, drain swampy areas, and initially acquire a few head of cattle.
